What's with the 18-24 pt fonts? I should have known to be wary of a book with only 2 reviews. While the content is not bad, the book reads more like a set of blogs and lists. Yes there are some pointers, but more so a lot of links to follow for other resources.Like I said .... almost as if the author just put a bunch of blogs in print. NOT a lot of details about the sites in Cusco or Machu Picchu. Just some lists and some facts you can find almost anywhere. She can't even remember which hike she did at Machu Picchu and doesn't give much insight into Huyana Picchu or Montana Machu Picchu or the Sun Gate.
Not worth the $12.95. I read this in about 30 minutes.

The Quirky Tourist Guide to Machu Picchu and Cuzco (Peru) is a useful book for anybody who is planning a trip to South America. The author, Terrance Zepke wrote this guide based on her own travel experience. She supplied her book with lots of pictures of beautiful landscapes. Breathtaking views are so tempting, that they make you wish to take your own trip to Machu Picchu. Everything that you need, you will find in this book maps, hotel recommendations, shuttle bus schedule and tours hours of operation, attractions and activities, bars and clubs. The book explains how to get to Machu Picchu, comparing the time and price of the trip, which can be turned into a real journey if you choose to hike. The top 10 things to see and the short history of the place can be found in this book as well.
I like the pages with fun facts and 50 Spanish Words You Need to Know. I found them quite entertaining and educational. The author came up with the great idea to build a 12 month calendar in her book, which is very compact and convenient. Potential tourists can choose the right month for them to see the things they might like it could be Todos Santos Day (Celebration of Death) in November or Inti Raumy-The Inca Festival of the Sun, in June. There is something to do for every month.
The Quirky Tourist Guide To Machu Picchu, written by author Terrance Zepke, shows readers unique and exciting travel opportunities to beautiful Machu Picchu. The content of this book centers on places to go and sights to see along with exciting pictures of Machu Picchu and other images too like maps of the country and of the sights that Zepke is also promoting. I especially liked the picture of the author and her friend, Jim, during their hike. Because so many times, authors remain in the shadows of their work, and it was nice to see Zepke actually doing what she is talking about in this book by traveling, lending her an air of authority that would otherwise not be there.
The photos and the content of this book are only two of the strong points though. This book also includes helpful links to places and sights that, if readers choose to, they can find out even more information. Author Zepke also provides helpful tips about how to avoid becoming ill from altitude sickness, exchanging money, and other tips at how to stay safe when visiting there. The tone of this book - while discussing these topics and more - is causal. The author also clearly moves from photo to text with ease, making this, along with her proper use of grammar, an easy read.
There is also no character development, because this is a travel book, mentioned before but worth noting again here, where author Zepke lightly touches upon what traveling to Machu Picchu has to offer to visitors. Besides the content from within, the cover is eye-catching too. By including people on the cover, that added a personal touch in this reader’s opinion and also made me want to pick up the book.
